Mark for Redaction: The Ride, Performance by Ramy El-Etreby

The Ride is a live solo theatre performance, written and performed by Ramy El-Etreby and directed by Zahra Noorbakhsh, and part of the Major Exhibition Mark for Redaction, envisioned by Razan Al-Salah and curated by Hilal Khalil
Ramy El-Etreby is a queer, Muslim, Arab American writer, performer, storyteller and educator based in Los Angeles, California. Ramy’s story, “The Ride”, was originally featured in the ground-breaking anthology, Salaam, Love: American Muslim Men on Love, Sex, and Intimacy, which he has developed into a solo theatre piece. He is a VONA/Voices fellow and holds an MA in Applied Theatre from the CUNY School of Professional Studies.
Zahra Noorbakhsh is an award-winning comedian and co-host of the #GoodMuslimBadMuslim podcast. The podcast was invited to record an episode at the Obama Whitehouse. The Pop Culture Collaborative has named Zahra their 2018 Sr Fellow on Comedy for Social Change. Her newest standup show, “On Behalf of All Muslims: A Comedy Special” is currently in development and set to debut at San Francisco’s Brava Theatre, June of 2019.
Mark for Redaction is a group exhibition from October 11 until November 11, envisioned by former flux resident Razan Al-Salah and curated by Hilal Khalil, this exhibition showcases multi-disciplinary forms of contemporary art from self-identified Kweer (queer), lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, and/or gender non-conforming people who have ties to what is colloquially known al-‘ālam al-‘arabī (South West Asia and North Africa (SWANA)) and the respective diaspora.
