Workshop:
2pm-6pm: Group-as-a-whole Workshop with Julia Gladstone
Group-as-a-whole theory posits that when individuals form a group, the resulting union becomes an entity in its own right with a sum greater than its parts. We will apply both experiential and meta-analysis of our “groupness” together through embodied investigations, scores, and LARPing. We will focus on the “here and now“ as a lens through which to uncover underlying themes and dynamics of power, care, ambivalence, desire, etc. — acknowledging that the content of the greater systems that we are embedded within can be traced through what is happening between us in the present. During the second half of the workshop we will generate scenic reenactments of earlier moments as gestures towards reinterpretation and integration. Some practices may resemble something akin to group therapy, and while I am trained as a psychotherapist, this is not therapy. The intent is towards thickening community, intimacy, and experimentation.
