Christina Helena Romirer
Christina Helena Romirer based in Vienna / Austria is an artist and scenographer. She works interdisciplinary in the fields of fine art, theatre and film. Specific sites and objects, situations, relations and socio-political themes are central matters for her works. She works in various media exploring different materials with a focus on spacial installations, objects and public space.
She studied Transmedia Art at the University for Applied Arts (diploma 2017) and Scenography at the University of Music and Dramatic Arts in Graz (diploma 2009).
Through subtly undermining everyday objects or elements which characterise contemporary life, Christina Helena Romirer exhibits, questions, and analyses mechanisms of power. She criticises and indicates sociopolitical phenomena by de-contextualising and transforming materials as well as texts that refer to our present concerns, including the media’s manipulative influence and society’s consumerist mentality. Through language and perceptual play Romirer examines how governing structures establish borders that order and confine.
Christina was an Artist-in-Residence at Flux Factory in 2011 and 2012, and is again in 2020!
