‘Miracle’ comes to Astoria for Flux Factory walk tour
There is no reason to be interested in 43rd Street between Northern Boulevard and the BQE in Queens, but some people are interested in it and they’re also interested in a miracle.
“Miracle on 43rd Street,” the latest project by the Flux Factory collective, will take place on Saturday, April 26, from noon to 5 p.m. It will consist of a map and a little bus tour and a series of installations, performances and interactions along 43rd Street.
Most maps are about space and directions and they try to smooth things out for peripatetics. The Flux Factory map will be different, though not quite opposite. Their map will be about walking down 43rd Street, as members have transformed it, re-thought it, altered it, dreamed about it, forgotten about it and done stupid things along it.
Flux Factory is located at 38-38 43rd Street, Long Island City.
Please note that this is a walking tour and there will indeed be a good deal of walking involved. Flux Factory recommends the donning of comfortable walking shoes.
“Miracle on 43rd Street” was made possible by a grant from the Queens Council on the Arts.
