Ayden L.M. Grout

Ayden L.M. Grout is an artist, writer and translator working at the intersection of language and image. Her photography, performance, video and installation have been shown in China, Cuba, New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco. Last year, she was the Artist in Residence at Frog Hollow Farm in Northern California, where she was the resident cheesemaker.

In addition to her own practice, she is part of the core collaborative team of Odyssey Works, an interdisciplinary performance group that makes durational experiences for an audience of one. In 2012, her book The Map is Not the Territory was published documenting the Odyssey Works’ production of the same title. She has lectured on the work at universities, institutions and symposia, including the Brooklyn Museum.
